Kings Ridge Swim Club Newsletter Weeks of 7/17 and 7/23
Dear Kings Ridge Parents and Swimmers,
It’s been an exciting season here at Kings Ridge and we are so proud of our swimmers to have wrapped up our Dual Meet Season as the NVSL Division 12 Runner Up with a record of 4 -1. On Saturday, July 14th we earned our fourth win against Shouse Village with a score of 236 to 184. The following Saturday on July 21st we recorded our first loss of the season against Brandywine with a score of 178 to 241.
First off, we want to highlight some of the individual and team accomplishments from our A Meets against Shouse Village and Brandywine and our B Meets against Lakeview: A few Saturdays ago we swam our fourth A Meet with an exciting 31 individual time improvements!
The following swimmers raced hard to win both of their events against Shouse Village: Garrison Cade (50 Back, 50 Fly), Allie Charbonneau (50 Back, 50 Fly), Annie Custis (50 Free, 50 Breast), Emily Davis (50 Breast, 50 Fly), Josiah Faber (50 Free, 50 Back), Brandon Henry (50 Back, 50 Fly), Beth Ragain (50 Free, 50 Back), Brock Riley (50 Back, 50 Breast), and Sebastian Rivera (50 Breast, 50 Fly). Additional event winners include Cole Bondanella in the 50 back, Katie Charbonneau in the 50 free, Trenton Clark in the 50 free, Kate Dolfis in the 50 breast, Katie Fleck in the 50 free, Aidan Glenn in the 50 free, Claire Husemann in the 50 back, Mason Izadpanah in the 50 breast, and Ashley Ragain in the 25 fly.
In our A Meet against Brandywine the following swimmers earned victories in both of their races: Ashley Ragain (50 Free, 25 Fly), Aidan Glenn (50 Free, 50 Breast), Mason Izadpanah (50 Free, 50 Breast), Nick Belmonti (25 Back, 25 Fly), Brock Riley (50 Back, 50 Breast), Beth Ragain (50 Back, 50 Breast), Garrison Cade (50 Back, 50 Fly), Emily Davis (50 Back, 50 Breast). Additional event winners include Walker Clark in the 50 Back, Katie Fleck in the 50 Fly, Brandon Henry in the 50 Fly, Katie Charbonneau in the 50 Fly. Sebastian Rivera shared the top spot in the 50 Fly with Brandywine’s Calvin Paradise.
Significant time improvements at Shouse Village include Rowan Little dropping 2.72 seconds in his 50 breast, Toby Moericke improving his 50 fly time by 4.05 seconds, Kate Ragain dropping 2.18 seconds in her 50 breast, Brock Riley bettering his 50 breast time by 2.47 seconds, and Robbie Sheipe dropping 2.44 seconds in his 25 back. At Brandywine, the Kings Ridge Water Wizards earned an additional 27 individual time improvements! Significant time improvements include Nick Belmonti dropping 4.01 seconds in his 25 backstroke and Robbie Sheipe dropping 2.36 seconds in his 25 freestyle.
A special congratulations to Garrison Cade on a perfect season earning 50 points for the Water Wizards in dual meets!
At our last B Meet of the season against Lakeview, Kings Ridge posted an awesome 61 total individual time improvements! Impressive improvements at the B Meet include Megan Close dropping 5.08 seconds in her 50 breast, Zoe Dolfis improving her 100 IM by 2.04 seconds, Ella Downer shaving 2.43 seconds off of her 50 free, Josiah Faber dropping 7.67 seconds in his 100 IM, Dani Gill improving 7.88 in her 100 IM, Madeleine Henry dropping 5.02 seconds in her 50 breast, Audrey Husemann shaving 6.86 seconds off of her 100 IM, Rowan Little improving his 100 IM by 3.79 seconds, Liam Lopez dropping 2.69 seconds in his 25 back, Beth Ragain shaving 3.21 seconds in her 50 breast, Brock Riley improving both his 50 free by 2.01 seconds and his 100 IM by 6.52 seconds, Holden Riley shaving off 6.54 seconds from his 25 free, Sarah Jane Ruiz dropping 2.78 seconds in her 50 breast, Cole Throckmorton dropping 3.36 seconds in his 50 fly, and Maddie Weston improving her 100 IM by 3.83 seconds.
Despite the downpour last Monday night, our swimmers raced for 16 personal bests at the IM Carnival. Swimmers improving by more than 4 seconds in their 100 IM include: Zoe Dolfis (4.22 seconds), Chris Jones (7.32 seconds), Asher Lebahn (11.86 seconds), Toby Moericke (6.36 seconds), and Cole Throckmorton (4.14 seconds).
48 Water Wizards represented Kings Ridge at Divisionals last Saturday. Event winners include Brandon Henry (50 Free, 50 Fly), Brock Riley (50 Back), Emily Davis (50 Breast, 50 Fly), Ashley Ragain (50 Fly), Walker Clark (100 IM). Second place finishes were earned by Ashley Ragain (50 Free), Aidan Glenn (50 Free), Annie Custis (50 Free, 50 Back), Sebastian Rivera (50 Free), Garrison Cade (50 Back, 50 Fly), Mason Izadpanah (50 Breast, 100 IM), Katie Charbonneau (50 Fly), and Beth Ragain (100 IM). In the 50 Fly, Brandon Henry broke his own record with a time of 27.73, congratulations Brandon!
Improvements of more than 2 seconds at Divisionals include Nick Belmonti (2.84 seconds in 25 Fly), Emily Close (2.80 seconds in 25 Back), Joey DiPietro (3.58 seconds in 25 Fly), Madeline Henry (7.97 seconds in 50 Breast), and Claire Husemann (2.45 seconds in 100 IM).
At this time we’d like to announce our full list of Kings Ridge Individual All Stars for 2018:
Beth Ragain will represent Kings Ridge in the 100 IM and Walker Clark is 1st Alternate. Ashley Ragain and Brandon Henry will represent Kings Ridge in the 50 Free (Ashley is also 1st Alternate in 25 Fly). Garrison Cade will represent Kings Ridge in the 50 Back. Emily Davis will represent Kings Ridge in 50 Breast and she is 1st Alternate in 50 Fly and Mason Izadpanah is 2nd Alternate in 50 Breast. We are so proud to have the 7 of you reppin’ the ridge this Saturday!

Following Divisionals, the Kings Ridge Water Wizards have earned a combined total of 544 individual time improvements for the season! We are so proud of all of your improvements this season, that’s almost 6 personal bests per swimmer!
Our three Wizards of the Week for the week of 7/9 - 7/13 are Josiah Faber, Ella Downer, and Katie Jones and our Wizards of the Week for the week of 7/16 - 7/20 are Audrey Husemann and Brock Riley. They have been working hard both throughout practice and during meets to be spirited swimmers, great sports, and good examples! Make sure to congratulate them when you see them at the pool!

Finally, we would like to congratulate Liam Glenn on his recent violin performance at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. WOW, way to go Liam! Our Water Wizards are definitely talented in and out of the pool!
